Walk Details for Wednesday 16th July 2025
This Week's Walks: The two visits to town went well with no major traffic holdups. There was a good turnout for both of these away walks. We trust the walkers enjoyed walking in a different part of Wellington. We might venture across town again when it is next school holidays. Anyway, this coming Wednesday’s walks are really local as we are walking in Churton Park. The walks are all new, but do use many of the same streets as walks in the past. The FFs and SSs do venture into one of the newer streets that has become available for a wander. The walks will start at 9:20am from the designated starting point. The designated starting point is, of course, the south-east corner of the Churton Park New World car park.
PPs: A 4.30km loop walk on the streets and connecting tracks of Churton Park. All tracks are well formed. You can see the walk here.
SSs: A 6.39km loop which takes in part of the valley track, a recently completed street and some other tracks and streets. You can see the walk here.
FFs: An 8.24km loop walk that also takes in a part of the valley track and also a recently completed street and some other tracks and streets. As always it includes some hills. You can see the walk on Mapometer here and on Plotaroute here.
Parking: Parking is in the south-east corner of the Churton Park New World car park.
Coffee: We will advise Simmer that a number of us will be coming for coffee and perhaps a snack. There is also Thyme just a short drive away.
Happy walking.

Rowena Rowe provided this photo of the select group of 2 PPs this week. As Rowena describes: "Only two participants in the PP group on Wednesday, captured in the true essence of camaraderie in amongst the hills of Miramar and Maupuia."

Friday walkers managed - just! - to avoid a record of three cancelled Friday walks in a row. Clint Davis led them up the hills from near the Brooklyn wind turbine and out to Te Kopahou on a nearly 17km walk and a little climb or two! He even managed to wrangle the weather so that the rain held off until their return to the cars. Photos of the two groups were provided by Clint, John Houghton and Wendy Bentley:
