Last Weeks Walks
The Wednesday walks were cancelled once again due to the heavy showers during the morning. Instead a good number met at Simmer for coffee. However, the CPR courses went ahead in Johnsonville as arranged. Jane Gaudie advises that 55 walkers completed the courses, giving us 60 in total within the group as 5 had earlier completed the courses in Khandallah. A great response!
Keith Thomas reports that we collected $350 for the Wellington Free Ambulance (WFA) and that some private donations were handed directly to the WFA.
There was no rain on Thursday so 4 walkers enjoyed a pleasant walk around Churton Park.
On Friday 17 walkers followed the Hutt River trail from Avalon Park up to Silverstream, crossing the Silverstream bridge and back down on the western bank. A total of 17kms.
This Weeks Walks (Wednesday 17 May)
Andy has been busy again and redrawn walks in Whitby for the SS’s and the FF’s. The PP’s walk stays the same as when last walked some months back.
PP’s: A 3.60km loop starting and ending at the Adventure Park carpark. Only a few gentle and kind hills with the rest generally flat. The walk takes in the two man made lakes that Whitby is known for. You can see the walk here.
SS’s: A 6.53km loop similarly starting and ending at the Adventure Park carpark. On paths within Reserves and on the adjoining streets. You can see the walk here.
FF’s: A 8.40km loop also starting and ending in the Adventure Park carpark and and of course there are some hills. You can see the walk here.
Parking
In the Adventurer Park carpark which can be accessed directly off Discovery Drive. (Just about opposite the Whitby Village)
Coffee
Coffee will be at Columbus Coffee in Mitre 10 Mega, Porirua. We will have let them know that we are coming.
Website
When you open the website to view your walk have a quick look at the “Home Page”. This usually has a new picture each week generally showing a view from one of our walks.
Cancellation
If the walks are cancelled an email will be sent out as early as possible but definitely before 8:00am.
Enjoy your walks.
Brian Vincent.
Koha
Every week we leave a note about Koha in the newsletter. We have no idea what private sharing arrangements are in place regarding getting rides but we trust that those who don’t regularly bring cars do make up for it in some small way, be it buying a coffee for the driver or by making some small cash donation.
Walk Schedules
You can look at the walk schedule for the rest of May here.
Photos
Below is the photo from last week. Walkers please try and take a photo of each group on walking days and email them to peter@jville.kiwi preferably small size (around 450kb).
