Last week’s walks.
Our Wednesday walk this week took us along various streets and paths around Khandallah. It was a glorious day and a total of 48 walkers headed out to enjoy it – 21 Fast Footers, 22 Steady Steppers and 5 Pleasure Pacers. Thursday saw 5 walkers (plus Red) head out and about in Churton Park and covering a distance of 6.2km. Friday's walk was cancelled due to heavy rain.

A reminder about walking arrangements:
After everyone has arrived at the starting location, each group should confirm its leader and also nominate a ‘tail-end Charlie’. Please remember the medical kits – there is at least one for each group – and a reminder to take photographs. These allow us to record that day’s walkers in each group. Please forward these by email.
Finally, just a reminder to swap telephone numbers amongst those with whom you travel to the starting point each week. A handy back-up for any late changes to arrangements.
Reminder: Please ensure that you inform your group’s leader if you leave a walk partway through.
Walk Details for Wednesday June 19th 2024.
This Week's Walks: This week we are walking fairly local with the walks being around the streets of Linden and parts of Porirua and Tawa. With the walks that close to Churton Park it should not be a problem to start the walks at 9:15am.
PPs: A 4.23km loop walk all on streets and reasonably flat. You can see the walk here
SSs: A 6.43km loop that is mainly on streets and does include a couple of small climbs. You can see the walk here
FFs: A 7.30km walk that is partly on streets and partly on walkways and does include a hill or two. You can see the walk here and on Plotaroute here
Parking: The parking for all groups is the Gee Street carpark with Gee Street being off Tawa Main Road by Linden Park.
Coffee: We have told Gloria Jeans Café that a good number of us will be coming for coffee. Gloria Jeans is the far end of The Outlet Centre (DressMart).

Wednesday brought us a glorious winter day for our walks around Khandallah. Photos of the SSs and FFs were taken by Rod Stainer and Bill Gaudie respectively.
We always encourage walkers to take care of themselves when out walking - but occasionally somebody will mis-step and take a tumble, usually without doing themselves harm. On Wednesday, one of the FFs mis-stepped while organising himself for the photo - and tumbled, fortunately without injury. Even with the best of Health & Safety precautions, mishaps do occur.

Sadly, the forecast bad weather for Friday did arrive - and there was no group walking to be had. The Editor did learn of some "ad hoc" walking and coffee-drinking that was had by some hardy members of the group. It takes a lot to keep CPCW members off the streets!!
