Churton Park Community Walkers

Last Weeks Walks
Churton Park Community Walkers were out in force on Wednesday with 65 people (12PP, 30SS & 23FF) walking the streets and tracks of Tawa. There was no walk on Thursday. The Friday walkers had a walk back in time on the City to Sea Walkway. Seventeen walkers started from Wellington Railway Station on a calm spring morning but arrived at Island Bay several months before they set off in a stinging winter squall.
Thank you to everyone involved in planning and leading these walks.
Regards
David

Reminder
Please ensure that you inform your group’s leader if you leave a walk partway through.
This Weeks Walks (Wednesday 20 September)
Its Local Walks this coming Wednesday. All walks start and end at the Churton Park “Village”. The SS’s and PP’s walks incorporate the new tracks up on the hill just above the Churton Park housing. As these walks are not recorded in the underlying Mapometer maps (and as yet have not been mapped by us either) we have just shown a vague indicative route for this section of the coming Wednesday walks. Allowing for zigzags the walks will probably be a little bit longer that the distance stated on the maps. The track on the hillside starts between 52 and 60 Erlstoke Crescent and ends alongside 6 Chippenham Grove. (The reverse for the FF’s.). The tracks are reasonably obvious.
PP’s: A 4.23km loop utilising the valley track in the first instance and returning via the streets. There is a little bit of uphill walking required but nothing too onerous. (Take your time up the hills.) You can see the walk here.
SS’s: A 4.97km loop walk that also incorporates the valley track and also includes the new hill track; the rest on roads. You can see the walk here.
FF’s: A 6.40km loop walk that is generally a reverse of the SS’s walk with a couple of additions. You can see the walk here.
Enjoy your walks
