Last Weeks Walks
Last Wednesday it rained before the walks were to start, so only a few ventured out for their walks around Johnsonville. There were eleven fast footers and five steady steppers. Those who had met at 9am but chose to stay dry went for a coffee at Simmer.
On Thursday evening, when the weather was fine although a little chilly, six walkers went along to Tawa to complete one of the Tawa loops.
Friday saw another of Wellington’s great fine days and there were 16 starters for the walk that commenced at the Otari Northern car park and they headed off into Chartwell, then along the Skyline Track and past a couple of peaks before completing the loop. All up it was just over 13kms.
This Weeks Walks (Wednesday 21 June)
It is back to Khandallah for this week’s walks. The walks all leave from Nairnville Park and head around the north eastern streets of the suburb.
PP’s: A 4.0km loop on the streets of Khandallah. There are some not too steep hills but generally the walk is fairly flat. The walk is a previous walk that has been reversed. You can see the walk here.
SS’s: A 5.39km loop walk within the streets of Khandallah. The walk does include one reasonable hill with the rest generally flat. You can see the walk here.
FF’s: A 6.34km loop walk touring the streets of Khandallah . Of course there are some hills. You can see the walk here.
Parking
Parking for all three groups is in the Nairnville Park carpark on the corner of Cockayne Road and Lucknow Terrace. Some may have to use the nearby streets for parking if the carpark is full.
Coffee
Coffee is the walkers choice with no Cafes actually booked. There are a couple in Khandallah, some in Johnsonville and of course Simmer and Thyme back at Churton Park.
Website
When you open the website to view your walk have a quick look at the “Home Page”. This usually has a new picture each week generally showing a view from one of our walks.
Cancellation
If the walks are cancelled an email will be sent out as early as possible but definitely before 8:00am.
Enjoy your walks.
Brian Vincent.
