Last Weeks Walks
Well the weather let us down once more for the Wednesday walks which we cancelled again. However the Thursday group enjoyed a nice calm evening for their walk around Paparangi and Newlands. Red was accompanied by 6 walkers. On Friday 21 walkers completed the Keith George Memorial walk near Silverstream (11kms).
Drinks and a Meal
Our monthly drinks and a meal or snack are on at the Sprig and Fern this Friday 5 May from 5pm.
This Weeks Walks (Wednesday 3 May)
We are keeping to the schedule for the May walks and will revisit the cancelled walks at a later date. So this coming Wednesday the three walks are based in the Newlands/Paparangi area. Good solid shoes would be sensible as some of the walks are on tracks which may be affected by the dampish Autumn weather.
PP’s: A 3.66km loop firstly on streets and the returning to the start point via the mainly downhill track through Seton Nossiter Park. You can see the walk here.
SS’s: A 6.30km flat loop heading out via Seton Nossiter Park and heading back via the streets, a reverse of the PP’s walk but taking a much wider sweep of Newlands. There are opportunities to shorten the walk should some wish to do so. You can see the walk here.
FF’s: A 7.96 loop starting and ending in Woodridge and taking in the streets and walkways of Newlands as well. You can see the walk here.
Parking
Parking for the PP’s and SS’s Groups: In the Seton Nossiter Park carpark which is accessed off Mark Avenue. If the carpark is full, then there are plenty of parks on the side of the road.
Parking for the FF’s is in Cedarwood Street which is off Woodridge Drive.
Coffee
Coffee is back at Simmer. We have let them know that a number of us will be coming for coffee.
Website
When you open the website to view your walk have a quick look at the “Home Page”. This usually has a new picture each week generally showing a view from one of our walks.
Cancellation
If the walks are cancelled an email will be sent out as early as possible but definitely before 8:00am.
Enjoy your walks.
Brian Vincent.
Koha
Every week we leave a note about Koha in the newsletter. We have no idea what private sharing arrangements are in place regarding getting rides but we trust that those who don’t regularly bring cars do make up for it in some small way, be it buying a coffee for the driver or by making some small cash donation.
Walk Schedules
You can look at the walk schedule for the rest of May here.
Photos
Below are some photos from last week. Walkers please try and take a photo of each group on walking days and email them to peter@jville.kiwi preferably small size (around 450kb).
