Current Wednesday Walk

Convenor’s Comment

Alison’s Corner

There are no recorded birthdays or notable events coming up this walking week.  However there are a few June birthdays coming up and there is one that was missed in early June, this being Christine Burr’s.  I am sure she was well looked after.  (Assistance to update and complete our records of such events is welcome by email.)

Last Weeks Walks

Last weeks walks were all local, prepared and mapped by Andy.  Did you all notice that Andy was absent from the walks!  The walks all toured the older areas of Churton Park and in the case of the SS’s and FF’s extended into Johnsonville.  Parts of the walk were very familiar to some and were new areas within the suburb for others.  There will be other local walks within the suburb and nearby surrounds in the future.  On this occasion the FF’s got back to the CafĂ© before the SS’s and it was then the turn of this later group to stand in the queue.  (Usually the preside of the FF’s)

Walk Schedules

You can look at the walk schedule for the rest of June here.

Wednesday 16th June 2021
General

This weeks walks are all based in and around the area of the Otari Bush Reserve in Wilton.  The walks also have been selected hopefully to ensure neither the PP’s or the SS’s are  dealing with muddy bush tracks.  The FF’s are going a little further afield but hopefully their tracks will be mud free too.

PP’s: A 4.40km loop on a track returning of footpaths.  You can view the walk here.

SS’s: A 5.95km loop on tracks and returning on footpaths.  You can view the walk here.

FF’s: A  6.69km loop on tracks and a short part on roads. (Should it be windy an alternative in the same vicinity is available.) You can view the walk here.

Parking

Parking for the PP’s and SS’s is in the Otari Wilton Bush Northern carpark which is accessed off Churchill Drive with a right turn when heading south. (Nearly opposite the Blackbridge Road intersection).  May have to use nearby streets if carpark gets to be full.

Parking for the FF’s is at the cul de sac head of Chartwell Drive and then a short walk down the hill to start the walk. (Parking should the alternative more sheltered walk need to be used is Silverstream Road.)

Coffee

Coffee is walkers choice, there are several choices on the way back to Churton Park and there is always Simmer. Nothing has been booked.

Cancellation

If required will be by email at 8:00am.

Medical experts in Melbourne were asked if it is time to ease the COVID lockdown.
You've heard most of the answers before, but
In the end, the Proctologists won out, leaving the entire decision up to the assholes in politics.
