Current Wednesday Walk

Convenor’s Comment

Alison’s Corner

Towards the end of the coming week two of our walkers are having a birthday; these being Pat Wakelin and Sue Wildman.  These two share the same birthday.  Trust they (and anyone missed) have an enjoyable special day.    (Assistance to update and complete our records of such events is welcome by email.)

Last Weeks Walks

Last weeks walks were all in the Mana/Plimmerton area.  The South Coast of Wellington was still getting over very large swells but it was a different story for the Plimmerton Coast where there was hardly a ripple.  After some horrific weather on the Tuesday it was a complete surprise to have a reasonable morning for our walk and also that 67 turned out in the doubtful weather for the scheduled walks.  The 67 was made up of 15 PP’s, 27 SS’s and 25 FF’s.  Thursday had 4 walkers heading around the streets of Johnsonville and 22 Friday Walkers walked from Churton Park to the top of Colonial Knob and back.

Mid Winter 8th Anniversary Dinner

Wednesday 7th July 2021
General

This Week’s Walks:  All walks are past walks from about two years ago.  All three are based in Seatoun with the SS’s and the FF’s taking in the Ataturk Memorial.

PP’s: A 4.81km loop taking in some of the Seatoun Coast and Seatoun Streets.  The walk does include one minor hill.  You can view the walk here.

SS’s: A 6.08km loop that includes two climbs one of which is up the steps to the Ataturk Memorial.  The rest of the walk is on good tracks and generally downhill or flat. There are some very good views both from the Memorial and the tracks.  You can view the walk here.

FF’s: A 7.59km walk that includes two separate loops and also takes in the Ataturk Memorial and a bit of the Seatoun Coast.  You can view the walk here.

Parking

Parking for all three groups is on the western side of Seatoun Park (Monro Street).

Coffee

We have told Simmer that a good number of us will be returning for coffee.  (There are other choices in Island Bay and other suburbs on the way home should any walkers so wish.)

Cancellation

If required will be by email at 8:00am.

Enjoy your walks.

Russell Paterson

Koha

Remember that if you rely on others for your transport most weeks then a small $2 payment for a nearby walk and a $4 payment for a longer walk would help to lessen the costs a little for those providing the transport.

Laugh

Two windmills are standing in a wind farm.  One asks, “What’s your favourite kind of music?”  The other says, “I’m a big metal fan”.
