Convenor’s Comment

Alison’s Corner

Two birthdays for this week, both longtime walkers with us.  One is Niru Patel and the other Brian Vincent.  We trust that they both have an enjoyable special day.

Last Weeks Walks

The number of walkers on last week’s walks was one short of our largest turnout.  Was the great turnout because there were no hills or was it the nice sunny day that brought all the walkers out?  There were a couple of new walkers.  We trust that they enjoyed their walks with us and will keep coming back.  Anyway we had 18 PP’s, 33 SS’s and 25 FF’s making a total of 76 walkers.  Again parking was not a problem.  However the queues at the café were a little long but the cafe seemed to cope very well and the fact that some of the walkers found another local café took some of the pressure off the named café.  On Thursday 5 of our night time walkers headed out probably around the streets of Churton Park.  However Friday’s walk was correctly cancelled due to the high winds and rain, but as is always the case the wind dropped and the sun came out about the time the walk would have kicked off.

Away Walks

Some planning is going on in the background and further information will be forwarded in due course.

Photos

Here are some photos from last week.  Walkers please try and take a photo of each group on walking days and email them to peter@jville.kiwi preferably small size (around 450kb).

Walk Schedules

Wednesday 18th August 2021
General

This weeks walks are based in Karori.  They are all walks that we have completed in the past.

PP’s: A 4.80km loop around the streets of Karori.  There is a minor hill near the end of the walk, otherwise the walk is generally flat.  You can view the walk here.

SS’s: A 4.54km loop taking in the streets and a track and includes Wrights Hill.  The walk is a little shorter than usual but there are is a good climb within the walk.  You can view the walk here.

FF’s: A 5.51km loop taking in the streets and a track that includes Wrights Hill.  The walk is a little shorter than usual but there is a good climb or two within the walk.  You can view the walk here.

Parking

Parking for all three groups is in the streets of Karori.  Park in Messiness Road starting at about No.49 and also use the nearby Plymouth Street.

Coffee

We have told Karori Park Café that we are coming for coffee.

Cancellation

If required will be by email at 8:00am.

Enjoy your walks.

Koha

Remember that if you rely on others for your transport most weeks then a small $2 payment for a nearby walk and a $4 payment for a longer walk would help to lessen the costs a little for those providing the transport.

Laugh

No matter how much you push the envelope, it'll still be stationery.
