No birthdays etc recorded for this coming week.  However if you are not on our records and are having a special day we trust that you do indeed enjoy the day.

General

Karen King who is the Community Centre Coordinator for the Churton Park Community Centre is looking at putting together some active family focused programs for Christmas; One of these is ‘Churton Park Family Walks’.   This is about short walks that a family could do and enjoy about the region. Karen asks of the walking group; “Do you have anyone that may be able to help, suggest or be interested in helping put together an info pack for this?”

If you feel you could assist you can contact Karen directly or let the writer know. Karen’s details are noted here. (Karen King, Churton Park Community Centre, 74 Lakewood Ave, Churton Park. 04 830 4802; 021 394 671, Karen.king@wcc.govt.nz )

Friday Night Drinkies

The Sprig and Fern, Tawa, is noted on our schedule for our Friday Night Drinkies. (This is Friday 1st October).  The Sprig and Fern did host us under Level 2 last time so it is assumed that they will this time.  However an email has been sent to the Sprig and Fern owner just to check their availability under Level 2.  If we are told that they don’t want our group whilst we are in Level 2  then another email will be sent to let everyone know.

Last Weeks Walks

The walks were cancelled.  It was definitely the correct call this time.

Photos

Here are some photos from from the week before last.  Walkers please try and take a photo of each group on walking days and email them to peter@jville.kiwi preferably small size (around 450kb).

Walk Schedules

Wednesday 29th September 2021
General

The Wednesday’s Walks coordinator has decided that we will have another go at last weeks three walks in Titahi Bay and we will leave the walks in Shelley Bay for early next year.  We will be back on schedule for October.  So this week's walks are exactly the same as last weeks.

PP’s:  A 5.7km there and back walk along the water’s edge which can be shortened and lengthened as required.  You can view the walk here.

SS’s:  A 7.65km walk around the water’s edge and then back over the inland track.  The inland track does include a bit of a hill.  You can view the walk here.

FF’s:  A 8.23km walk also around the water’s edge and then back over the hill and then via the Titahi Bay roads back to the carpark.  You can view the walk here.

Parking

All groups.  Parking is in the usual carpark on the corner of Titahi Bay Road and Onepoto Road. (Opposite but south of Onepoto Park.)

Coffee

Yes probably at home again but perhaps it could be a takeaway from a nearby café but it will not be a preselected café under Level 2.  We will warn Columbus Coffee in Mitre 10 Mega, Porirua that some of us will be coming in for coffee but if we are still in Level 2 the café will not be able to cater for us all.  (First in first served.)  If Level 1 things might be back to normal.

Cancellation

The normal cancellation before 8:00am will be sent by email if required.

At the time of writing this report the writers prediction is that we will still be walking under the Level 2 requirements. So remember to scan in and try for a little bit of social distancing. If we are back in Level 1 be happy.

Koha

Remember that if you rely on others for your transport most weeks then a small $2 payment for a nearby walk and a $4 payment for a longer walk would help to lessen the costs a little for those providing the transport.

Laugh

Kids today don't know how easy they have it... when I was young, I  had to walk over 9 feet of shag carpet to change the TV channel.
