Current Wednesday Walk

10 March 2021

Convenor’s Comment

Firstly an apology for a slightly incorrect parking instruction for last Wednesday’s walks.   Only a few were affected by this but they enjoyed their own special walk.  The rest of us found the planned parking and enjoyed the flat walk around the streets of Birchville and the return walk along the banks of the Hutt River.  A total of 44 walkers turned out with a good number staying on for a picnic under the trees and in the sun.  One of the FF’s walkers wanted to know what had happened to the hills.

On Thursday seven of the Thursday walkers covered about 5km around Tawa and on Friday 12 walkers covered 13.3km over the Skyline Tracks from a starting and finishing point in the Otari Reserve.  Three other Friday walkers did their own thing.

The Friday nights drinkies under Level 2 requirements at the Sprig and Fern went quite smoothly for a slightly reduced number from the usual attendance.  Back to Level 1 for next months drinkies we trust.

This week the walks are back in our local district with walks taking in parts of Seton Nossiter Park and or Newlands/Paparangi.

On the social front it is timely to note the marriage in the weekend of two of our regular walkers, Christine Binns and Duncan McMillan.  We congratulation them and wish them well.  We trust we will see them both back on the walking trails soon.

This week Jan Jones enjoys a birthday as does Bart Jones.  (Incorrectly shown as last week.)
