Alison’s Corner

Again there are no birthdays or other special events to note this coming week.  Again we trust that anyone having a special day that we do not know about does indeed have an enjoyable day.

Last Weeks Walks

All three walks were carried out in Whitby.  Prior to the walk one of the SS’s walkers pointed out that there was a short part of their walk that should be avoided as it was known to be very slippery.  Anyway it was not an issue as the group weren’t looking at the map, missed the turn off and walked right past this area.  The walk has now been amended for future walks.  The PP’s had 12 walkers, the SS’s had 23 walkers and  the FF’s 24 making a total of 59.  A good turn out.  The staggered finishes of the walks meant that the queues at the CafĂ© were reasonable with some of the PP’s ready to leave thereby making seating space for the late arriving FF’s.  On Thursday we think there were at least four walkers carrying out a local walk and on Friday 16 walkers carried out a loop walk around Titahi Bay.

Enjoy your walks.

General

All walks this week start at Nairnville Park.  The PP’s have a flattish walk around the streets of Khandallah, the SS’s have a similar but longer walk that takes in a bit of a hill as well, and the FF’s extend their walk into some of the Ngaio Streets.

PP’s: A 3.11km loop using tracks and footpaths.  You can view the walk here.

SS’s: A 5.77km loop using tracks and footpaths.  You can view the walk here.

FF’s: A 6.62km loop using tracks and footpaths.  You can view the walk here.

Parking

Parking is in our usual Khandallah spot; that is Nairnville Park and the surrounding streets.

Coffee

Simmer has been told that we will be returning there and they will reserve some space. There are other choices on the way home if you feel that Simmer will be overcrowded.

Cancellation

If required will be by email at 8:00am.
