Current Wednesday Walk

Convenor’s Comment

Convenor’s Report

As we all worked it out; yes we were back in Level 2 on Wednesday.  Back to a sort of normal.  Thus a reasonable number of walkers did turn out to the briefing on Wednesday and all scanned the QR code’s that Alison had set up in the past and then headed off  in their differing groups.  The numbers were a little down of what we have been used to in the past but I am sure that as everyone starts to get comfortable with Level 2 the numbers will increase.  Anyway we were welcomed to Level 2 with some sunshine and very little wind.

Alison’s Corner

Our records show two birthdays this week; both from the same household.  So happy birthday to both Janice and Andrew Laing.  We trust they both have a very enjoyable special day.

Last Weeks Walks

Well we got out last Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.  Numbers were a little reduced on Wednesday probably because it was the first day of Delta Level 2.  Anyway there were 6 PP’s, 9 SS’s and 20 FF’s (a total of 35 walkers) all walking local walks in the general direction of Johnsonville.  On Thursday night 6 headed out around the streets of Churton Park and on Friday a total of 19 walkers walked around the general area of Wilton/Wadestown.  From those figures it would suggest that the FF’s and FW’s felt the need more than others to get out and about!

Photos

Here are some photos from from last week.  Walkers please try and take a photo of each group on walking days and email them to peter@jville.kiwi preferably small size (around 450kb).

Walk Schedules

You can look at the walk schedule for the rest of September here.

Wednesday 15th September 2021
General

Whilst we get used to Level 2 we have kept the walks to nearby and where there is a reasonable amount of off street parking; thus the schedule that the Walking Committee had put together has been overridden.  We will probably get back on track in October.    Anyway the walks for this week are all based in Khandallah and are previous walks (by coincidence Khandallah was on the schedule for this coming week).

PP’s:  A 3.97km walk on reasonably flat roads.   You can view the walk here.

SS’s:  A 5.39km walk on roads but does include the odd hilly road.   You can view the walk here.

FF’s:  A 6.34km walk heading downhill quite a bit which means some uphill later on.  There may even be a small diversion from what is shown on the map.   You can view the walk here.

Parking

All groups.  Parking is in the Nairnville Park carpark and the nearby streets if required.

Coffee

Yes probably at home again but perhaps it could be a takeaway from a nearby café but it will not be a preselected café under Level 2.  However no reason not to try out some of the café’s if it proves to be plausible for a small group.  Quite a few last week got a coffee at Simmer without too many problems.

Cancellation

The normal cancellation before 8:00am will be sent by email if required.

Happy Level 2 Walking and remember to scan in and try for a little bit of social distancing.  On Friday some of the walkers thought the social distancing referred to the car parking; thereby leaving the late arrivals having to look for parks up the street!

Koha

Remember that if you rely on others for your transport most weeks then a small $2 payment for a nearby walk and a $4 payment for a longer walk would help to lessen the costs a little for those providing the transport.

Laugh

The wife has been missing a week now.  Police said to prepare for the worst. So I have been to the charity shop to get all her clothes back.
