Walk Details for Wednesday 5th February:
This Week's Walks: Should not be any traffic problems this week with all three walks in Paremata with these extending into Camborne and Plimmerton. All walks will start at 9:20am from the designated parking area.
PP: A 4.48km there and back walk, but includes a loop. Can readily be shortened by turning back at any point along the shoreline. You can see the walk here.
SS: A 5.93km loop that takes in the shoreline, a bit of Camborne and a bit of Plimmerton before returning to the start. You can see the walk here.
FF: A 7.05km loop very similar to the SS, but extends further into Camborne and further into Plimmerton. You can see the walk on Mapometer here and on Plotaroute here.
Parking: Parking is in Ngati Toa Domain. Turn left off Mana Esplanade into Pascoe Avenue, cross the railway line and find a park. In the unlikely instance that all parks are taken there are plenty within the park but a bit further north alongside the railway line.
Coffee: We will warn Columbus Coffee, Mitre 10 Mega, Porirua that a number of us will be arriving for coffee. (It is on our way home.)

On Wednesday, there was a large group of walkers who headed out in the northern reaches of Upper Hutt. From the carpark in Totara Park, walkers ventured into the streets and alleyways of neighbouring Brown Owl, Maoribank and Clouston Park. Photos of the PPs and SSs were provided by Mike Drain and Paul Alpe respectively:

Gay Hoffman has provided these two photos of the FFs. The first was taken outside the Thien Thai Vietnamese Buddhist monastery in Upper Hutt and you may be able to spot some of the statuary behind the walkers.

On Friday there was a single group of 13 walkers who headed out onto the eastern hills of Lower Hutt on a walk plotted by Gary Dick. Some 18km, 850m of ascent and 3.5+hours of walking later they returned to their cars somewhat muddied and weary. The bush and birdsong was well worth the effort. Photos provided by Bill Gaudie:
