This Week's Walks: It was mentioned by one of the SSs that they would like to walk from Crofton Station to town and catch the train back again. So this is what we have planned for walkers for this week's walks with variations for the PPs and FFs. Unfortunately, the walks require three different parking areas - one for each of the three groups. The walks are to start at 9:20am at the various starting points - please read the instructions carefully. Bring your Gold Card or, for the younger set, your Snapper Card.
The Walks:
PPs: A 4.0km walk. The starting point and parking is in Agra Crescent (Khandallah) between Cashmere Avenue and Lochiel Road. From here the walk is generally flat to Crofton Downs Station with the return on a train to either Boxhill or Khandallah Stations. There is a coffee cart at this station that could enliven the wait if your timing is unfavourable. You can see the walk here.
SSs: A 5.12km walk. The starting point and the parking is in Chartwell Drive on the street alongside the Chartwell School fence. From there the walk to Wellington Station is generally downhill but there is one reasonable climb. The walk ends at Wellington Station where “Trax Bar and Café” offers good coffee in a pleasant and roomy setting. Then, of course, you can catch the train back to Crofton Station. You can see the walk here.
FFs: A 7.93km walk. The starting point and parking is at Nairnville Park carpark. The first part of the walk is short - just getting from the cars to Simla Station. The train is then caught to Wellington Station and the real part of the walk starts from there and heads back to Simla Station via a route that passes the café in Crofton Downs or could be varied to pass the café in Ngaio. You can see the walk on Mapometer here and on Plotaroute here.
Parking: Parking for all three groups is noted with the walk details.
Coffee: The various options are also covered in the walk details.

Sadly, the Wednesday walks were cancelled this week due to the weather.
However, Thursday's walkers were out and about on the tracks of Redwood Bush. Thanks to Gillian Mills, once again, for providing this photo of the group:

Friday walkers were led by Brian Alderson on a walk of 12.5km from the carpark towards the end of the Wainuiomata Coast road and up to Baring Head Lighthouse. These first three photos were taken by Pauline Moore who walked with the early group which, at one point, crossed paths with the later group:
