Last Weeks Walks

The last minute change for the SS’s walk meant that their walk ended up a bit shorter than usual.  This weeks will be longer.  There was a good turnout for the Khandallah into Ngaio walks with 15 PP’s, 31 SS’s and 18 FF’s taking part; a grand total of 64 walkers.  Thursday night’s weather was not very suitable for walking so the Thursday Night Explorers stayed home.  On Friday, 15 of the Friday Walkers completed a flat walk taking in the banks of the Waikanae River with three others completing a slightly shorter walk in the same area.

This Weeks Walks

With a good number heading to Somes Island it seemed appropriate to limit ourselves to local walks.  So a walk for each of the three groups have been sourced from our database of walks.  They all start and finish at the Churton Park New World carpark.

PP’s: A 3.46km Valley loop taking in walkways, parks and footpaths.  Some hills but not too steep.     You can see the walk here

SS’s: A 7.37km loop all on road.  You can see the walk here

FF’s: A 7.96km loop circumnavigating Churton Park. It does include some climbs.  You can see the walk here.

Parking

At the south-eastern corner of the New World carpark or the nearby street.

Coffee

Back at Simmer.  We have told Simmer that a good number of us will be calling in for a coffee.

Website

When you open the website to view your walk have a quick look at the “Home Page”.  This usually has a new picture each week generally showing a view from one of our walks.

Cancellation

If the walks are cancelled an email will be sent out as early as possible but definitely before 8:00am.

Koha

Every week we leave a note about Koha in the newsletter.  We have no idea what private sharing arrangements are in place regarding getting rides but we trust that those who don’t regularly bring cars do make up for it in some small way, be it buying a coffee for the driver or by making some small cash donation.

Walk Schedules

You can look at the walk schedule for the rest March here

Photos

Below are some photos from the week before last.  Walkers please try and take a photo of each group on walking days and email them to peter@jville.kiwi preferably small size (around 450kb).
