Our 10th Anniversary Dinner

We are now finalising arrangements for our anniversary function so please book now for this function at The Pines from 6pm on 29 July.  The cost for those attending is $42 per person.  We will be providing a bus service from Churton Park at 5.30pm (and return at 9.45pm) for those who would like to travel together to the venue.  This will cost only $6 per person.

If you wish to attend please make payment ($48 for function and bus or $42 for function only) to 02-0524-0233091-000 quoting your name. No other reference is necessary but if you wish to add “dinner” that’s fine.  No cash payments please.

Last Weeks Walks

All our groups enjoyed good walks again last week.  The 61 Wednesday walkers (in their three groups) walked around Paremata.  On Thursday we had 5 walkers venturing out for a local walk around the suburb and on Friday 17 went out around Titahi Bay.

This Weeks Walks (Wednesday 12 July)

It’s still School Holidays and we believe, true or not, that the traffic heading to town at 9:00am on a Wednesday morning will be lighter than normal.  Thus, we have planned walks in Lyall Bay.  These walks are repeats of walks we carried out about two years ago.

PP’s: A 4.85 km walk out and back along the south coast. The plan shows a definite turning back point but if it is a particularly nice day walkers could extend the walk a little.  All on footpaths.  You can see the walk here.

SS’s: A 6.67 km with a loop and then a return back repeating some of the starting part of the walk.  All on footpaths.  You can see the walk here.

FF’s: A 8.09 km loop walk taking in the length of Houghton Bay Road. Mostly on footpaths and of course a little bit of a hill included.  You can see the walk here.

Parking

Parking for all three groups is in the streets in the general area of the Spruce Goose Café on Lyall Parade.

Coffee

This is walkers’ choice.  We have not booked anything.  There is Spruce Goose opposite our parking, there is Beach House and Kiosk on the way to Island Bay and a couple of others in Island Bay and of course Thyme and Simmer back home.

Website

When you open the website to view your walk have a quick look at the “Home Page”.  This usually has a new picture each week generally showing a view from one of our walks.

Cancellation

If the walks are cancelled an email will be sent out as early as possible but definitely before 8:00am.

Enjoy your walks.
Brian Vincent.
