Churton Park Community Walkers

Friday “Drinkies” became Wednesday “Drinkies”!

Last Weeks Walks

All groups headed out around Petone all utilising the good track along the stop bank in the Shannon Golf Course with the SS’s and FF’s including a little bit of Lower Hutt.  The SS’s unfortunately had to back track after finding a locked gate right at the end of a long road.  They managed to change their route and still get back to their cars.  My apologies for selecting this particular road; the locked gate did not show up on Mapometer!  Anyway overall we had 11 PP’s, 27 SS’s and 15FF’s; a good Wednesday total of 53 walkers.  A particularly nice balmy night saw 3 Thursday Night Explorers head to the top of Mount Kaukau and on Friday 15 walkers completed a 14km loop walk starting and ending in Totara Park.

This Weeks Walks (Wednesday 21 December)

It is proposed that there will only be local walks for this last walking day of the year.  It is proposed that all groups meet down at the New World Carpark and that the groups can decide on where to go locally, or can even decide to drive somewhere nearby and have their walk.  One suggestion is head to Crofton Downs and investigate the decorated letterboxes in Spencer Street.  However backup possible local walks for both the SS’s and PP’s are shown below should a consensus not be arrived at.  The FF’s  will definitely have to decide on the day where to go.

PP’s: A 3.82 km loop walk if the group can not decide on anything else.  You can see the walk here.

SS’s: An old 6.28km loop walk if the group can not decide on anything else.  You can see the walk here.

FF’s: Barry already has an idea but anyone else’s suggestion will be considered.

Parking

Parking is within the south-eastern corner of New World carpark or out on the nearby street.

Coffee is at Simmer.  They will have been told that a number of us will be coming.

When you open the website to view your walk have a quick look at the “Home Page”.  This usually has a new picture each week generally showing a view from one of our walks.

Koha

Every week we leave a note about Koha in the newsletter.  We have no idea what private sharing arrangements are in place regarding getting rides but we trust that those who don’t regularly bring cars do make up for it in some small way, be it buying a coffee for the driver or by making some small cash donation.

Walk Schedules

You can look at the walk schedule for the rest of December here.

Photos

Below are some photos from the week before last.  Walkers please try and take a photo of each group on walking days and email them to peter@jville.kiwi preferably small size (around 450kb).
