Last Weeks Walks

Wednesdays saw some 64 walkers head to Island Bay for walks in calm weather.  The South Coast has treated us kindly on the last few visits to this area.  The 64 was made up of 20 PP’s, 25 SS’s and 19 FF’s.  Quite a few were able to have coffee at the nearby Beach House and Kiosk cafe; others had to venture further afield.  On Thursday evening, 5 Thursday Night Dawdlers headed out around the Paparangi and Newlands areas on what was a very chilly night.  One of their regular walkers was there in thought only as he wandered around Auckland International Airport at the start of his overseas walking adventure.  On Friday some 23 walkers caught the train from Tawa getting off at Plimmerton so they could then walk all the way back to their cars but also stopping off for a short visit to the Police Museum.  Quite a long but flat walk.

This Weeks Walks

Not far to travel this week as all three walks are local.  The three walks all take in the newly extended path along the side of the valley that runs parallel to Melksham Drive.  Hopefully the timing should allow for all groups to traverse this track without bumping into another group.  As these walks are all within Churton Park; then there is going to be a hill somewhere within the walk.

Briefing

Usual time and place.(New World Carpark just before 9:00am)

PP’s: A 3.53km loop walk using tracks and footpaths.  You can view the walk here.

SS’s:  A 5.02km loop walk using tracks and footpaths.  You can view the walk here.

FF’s:  A 6.61km loop walk using tracks and footpaths.  You can view the walk here.

Parking

Parking is in the New World carpark.  To keep on side with the New World management please restrict parking to the south eastern corner of the carpark or park on the street.

Coffee

Although we have told Simmer that a good number of us will be turning up for coffee we are not too sure whether a space will be set aside for us.  Hopefully the weather will be kind enough for it to let a good number of us to sit in the outside area.  Hopefully the groups will arrive at differing times meaning a shorter wait for your coffee.

Cancellation

If the walks are cancelled an email will be sent out as early as possible but definitely before 8:00pm.

Happy June Walking

Koha

Every week we leave a note about Koha in the newsletter.  We have no idea what private sharing arrangements are in place regarding getting rides but we trust that those who don’t regularly bring cars do make up for it in some small way, be it buying a coffee for the driver or by making some small cash donation.

You can look at the walk schedule for July here.

Photos

Below are some photos from last week.  Walkers please try and take a photo of each group on walking days and email them to peter@jville.kiwi preferably small size (around 450kb).
