Last Weeks Walks

Last week the wet weather curtailed all our Wednesday walks, however on Thursday evening five walkers braved the wet and walked around Churton Park along with their companion Red.  On Friday 19 walkers were scheduled to walk the Te Au loop in Waikanae.

Drinks and Eats

As it is the first Friday of the month next Friday we are scheduled to go to the Sprig and Fern in Tawa for a social evening.  For those who wish to enjoy the occasion, the arrival time is 5pm.  See you there.

Congratulations

The North Wellington Volunteer Service Awards for 2023 have recently been announced and we take this opportunity to congratulate Jane Gaudie on receiving the award for her service at the Citizen Advice Bureau in Johnsonville.

Enjoy your walks

Reminder

Please ensure that you inform your group’s leader if you leave a walk partway through.

This Weeks Walks (Wednesday 4 October)

It’s still school holidays and hopefully the traffic heading to town is still a bit less than usual.    To take advantage of this we have planned to repeat the walks in the Evans Bay Area that were cancelled last week.

PP’s: A 3.31km flat walk incorporating heading to and around the Anau Tangi Sports Centre and then on to the very expensive pedestrian crossing that crosses Cobram Drive and then back to the start point but keeping to the coast. Should the weather make keeping to the coast too uncomfortable then a circuit of Kilbirnie Park and the Aquatic Centre etc could replace the planned walk.  You can see the walk here.

SS’s: A 6.30km loop walk heading up to and along the ridge parallel to the coast and then back to the start via the coast.  This is a walk we have used a couple of times in the past.  You can see the walk here.

FF’s: A 7.7km loop walk that is a reverse of a walk that we have carried out in the past.  Firstly along the coast and then back along the ridge and then down to the start point.  You can see the walk here.

Enjoy your walks

Parking

Parking is on the side of Evans Bay Parade as near to the corner of Cobram Drive as is sensible with overflow into the nearby car parking areas.

Coffee

It is walkers choice of where to go for coffee.  There is one nearby on Evans Bay Parade and others on the way home.  And of course there is Simmer back at Churton Park. We have not made any special arrangements.

Website

When you open the website to view your walk have a quick look at the “Home Page”.  This usually has a new picture each week generally showing a view from one of our walks.

Cancellation

If the walks are cancelled an email will be sent out as early as possible but definitely before 8:00am.

Photos

Below here are the photos from last week.  Walkers please try and take a photo of each group on walking days and email them to peter@jville.kiwi.  Preferably small size (around 450kb).
