Last Weeks Walks
Local Walks
With 48 walkers/partners away on the annual trip there were fewer walkers than normally the case for the Wednesday walks last week. There were 16 Steady Steppers, 8 Pleasure Pacers and 3 Fast Footers out on Wednesday for their walk around Khandallah. On Thursday five walkers braved the light drizzle for their walk around Churton Park!
New Plymouth ‘away’ trip
The 48 walkers who went up to New Plymouth participated in some fabulous walks as well as enjoying the social side of the week (including the meals). David Pegram, our prime organiser of these trips along with Wayne Jackson, thanked a number of members who had contributed in various ways to this week and all of us conveyed our grateful appreciation for the huge effort that they both put into making these trips so successful.
2023 Christmas lunch Function & Bus details
Christmas Lunch bus transport details, Wednesday 29 November.
Brian Alderson advises that we have a good number of passengers already confirmed for the bus trip, however there is still plenty of room for more people. It is only $10pp return.
The bus departs CP shopping centre 11.25am, with boarding from 11.15am. It will arrive at The Pines at midday. Departing from The Pines 3.40pm, arr. CP 4.15pm.
Avoid the hassle of driving to and from The Pines, and the limited parking there.
A reminder if you haven’t booked, that the lunch is $42 per person.
Please book by paying either $52 (bus and lunch) per person or $42 (lunch only) into our Bank account 02-0524-0233091-000 - Just add the word “Christmas” in the reference field.

This Weeks Walks (Wednesday 15 November)
This weeks walks are in the city and the walks head into either the adjacent Botanical Gardens or the nearby hilly streets. By leaving Churton Park after 9:00am we are hopeful that there will be no major traffic holdups.
PP’s: A 2.47km loop walk within the Botanical Gardens. The walk is fairly short but there are a few hilly paths to take on that will definitely make up for the shortness. You can see the walk here.
SS’s: A 4.04km loop within the Botanical Gardens and into the adjacent streets. Again the shortness is made up for with a couple of hills. You can see the walk here.
FF’s: A 6.4km loop walk that heads into the nearby streets and incorporates quite a bit of hill. You can see the walk here.
Parking
Parking for all three groups is in Glenmore Street. Walkers should head a good way up Glenmore Street and park in the Coupon Parking area and accumulate at the gate into the Gardens that is opposite Orangi Kaupapa Road. (Coupon Parking areas are free for two hours.)
Coffee
Coffee is to be at Picnic Café within the Botanical Gardens. We have informed them that a number of walkers will be coming for coffee. An alternative is to head back to Simmer.

When you open the website to view your walk have a quick look at the “Home Page”. This usually has a new picture each week generally showing a view from one of our walks.
Cancellation
If the walks are cancelled an email will be sent out as early as possible but definitely before 8:00am.
