Welcome back to a New Year of Walking!

Last Weeks Walks

I gather that a group of people headed down to the carpark last Wednesday and carried out a local walk of some sort.  The records show that there were 3 PP’s, 9 SS’s and 6 FF’s making a total of 18 walkers.  The Thursday Night Explorers had the week off and are starting next Thursday but the Friday Walkers had a good turnout of 15 for their walk into the hills of the south coast.

This Weeks Walks

The walk schedule suggests that this weeks walk are local. We have considered walks starting and finishing in the Alex Moore Carpark as local.  However we are still having the quick 9:00am briefing at the New World Carpark first before proceeding to Johnsonville.  The walks are new walks but take in some roads and tracks that we have walked before.  The three walks are as follows:

PP’s: A 4.09km generally flat loop on footpath or formed tracks.  You can see the walk here.

SS’s: A 6.04km loop including the fairly new Totara Park Track and some not too steep hills with the balance of the walk fairly flat.  You can see the walk here.

FF’s: A 7.00km loop that is similar to the SS’s but includes an extra hill or two and is in the opposite “clock” direction. You can see the walk here.

Parking

Parking for all three groups is in the Alex Moore Park Carpark which is accessed off Bannister Avenue.

Coffee

Coffee is back at Simmer.  They will have been told that a number of us will be coming.

Website

When you open the website to view your walk have a quick look at the “Home Page”.  This usually has a new picture each week generally showing a view from one of our walks.

Cancellation

If the walks are cancelled an email will be sent out as early as possible but definitely before 8:00am.

Koha

Every week we leave a note about Koha in the newsletter.  We have no idea what private sharing arrangements are in place regarding getting rides but we trust that those who don’t regularly bring cars do make up for it in some small way, be it buying a coffee for the driver or by making some small cash donation.

Walk Schedules

You can look at the walk schedule for the rest of January here.

Photos

Below are some photos from the week before last.  Walkers please try and take a photo of each group on walking days and email them to peter@jville.kiwi preferably small size (around 450kb).
