Last Weeks Walks

Last Wednesday’s walks along the beach and through the streets of Titahi Bay were well attended with 20 PP’s, 28 SS’s and 19 FF’s taking part; a grand total of 67.  Whist it was thought that the parking would be easy the group certainly filled all the parks with some having to head to the side streets.  The walks were carried out on a near perfect day which highlighted the views around Titahi Bay.  On a lovely Thursday night 9 of the Thursday Night Crawlers headed off around the local Churton Park streets and on Friday, some 19 Friday Walkers took on the Southern Coast and the nearby rather steep hills again in fairly good weather.

Friday Night “Drinkies”

Friday Night “Drinkies”.  26 Walkers turned up for “Drinkies” last Friday.  There still is plenty of room for anyone wanting to add to the numbers next month.

Koha

Every week we leave a note about Koha in the newsletter.  We have no idea what private sharing arrangements are in place regarding getting rides but we trust that those who don’t regularly bring cars do make up for it in some small way, be it buying a coffee for the driver or by making some small cash donation.

Photos

Here are some photos from last week.  Walkers please try and take a photo of each group on walking days and email them to peter@jville.kiwi preferably small size (around 450kb).

This week's walks

This week the walks are to be in the Tinakori Hills and Botanical Gardens starting from the Coupon Parking areas of Glenmoore Street.  The Pleasure Pacers will stay within the confines of the Botanical Gardens with the other two groups taking on the local streets and Tinakori Hill tracks as well as part of the Gardens.  Any tracks used should be mud free.  The Coupon Parking areas gives the parkers two hours free which is plenty of time for our walks.

PP’s: A 2.87km loop walk using the paths within the Botanical Gardens.  You can view the walk here.

SS’s: A 4.77km loop walk heading into Tinakori Hill but returning through the nearby streets.  You can view the walk here.

FF’s: A 5.80km loop walk starting in the streets and then heading into the Tinakori Hills and finally back to the start point by local streets.  You can view the walk here.

Parking:

As mentioned above there is Coupon Parking along the length of Glenmore Street.  The walks are planned to leave from Glenmore Street about opposite the driveway to the Anglican Chinese Mission Church.  So take the first free Coupon Parking gap in Glenmore Street after you pass the main entrance to the Gardens. (A check of the parking will be made on Monday!)

Coffee

This will be back at Simmer. We will have told Simmer that a group of us will be returning for Coffee. (You can if you wish to go to the Café in the Gardens but we have not notified them that we could be coming.)

Cancellation

If required will be by email at 7:30am.

Happy May Walking

Koha

Remember that if you rely on others for your transport most weeks then a small $2 payment for a nearby walk and a $4 payment for a longer walk would help to lessen the costs a little for those providing the transport.
