Last Weeks Walks

The weather although a bit unsettled was good enough for all our Wednesday Walks to go ahead. Some 59 walkers took part in these Mana area walks with 9 PP’s, 30 SS’s and 20 FF’s taking part. The Thursday Night Crawlers had already decided that instead of walking they were going to eat out to celebrate the 9 years that this group had been walking.  We understand that it was a good evening with a good turnout.  The Friday Walks were cancelled because of the rough weather in the morning with the forecast suggesting that it was not going to improve.  The cancellation was in spite of these walkers having been told in the past to toughen up, grab a coat and take their concrete pills.  So the weather must have been bad.

This Weeks Walks (Wednesday 28 September)

All the groups have the same walk.  The walk is up the Te Whiti Riser track.  This is a track with gradual incline, walkers can go as far along as they want to - recommended to go at least until they get a decent outlook over the Hutt Valley. FF’s can go over the hill, SS’s to go to the top and the PP’s as far up as they wish before they turn back.   The walk to the top is shown here

Parking

Parking for all three groups is in that part of Riverside Road Central that is alongside Te Whiti Park.  This Road can be accessed directly off White lines East or off Guthrie Avenue.

Coffee

Coffee for all is at Columbus Coffee in Mitre 10 Mega, Petone. They will have been informed that a good number of us will be coming.

Website

When you open the website to view your walk have a quick look at the “Home Page”.  This usually has a new picture each week generally showing a view from one of our walks.

Cancellation

If the walks are cancelled an email will be sent out as early as possible but definitely before 8:00am.

Happy September Walking

Koha

Every week we leave a note about Koha in the newsletter.  We have no idea what private sharing arrangements are in place regarding getting rides but we trust that those who don’t regularly bring cars do make up for it in some small way, be it buying a coffee for the driver or by making some small cash donation.

Walk Schedules

You can look at the walk schedule for October here.

Photos

Below are some photos from the week before last.  Walkers please try and take a photo of each group on walking days and email them to peter@jville.kiwi preferably small size (around 450kb).
