9th Anniversary Dinner

Our usual photographer is unable to attend our function.  So we are looking for a volunteer to take on the job of being our Dinner Photographer for the night.  It normally only means a photo of each table, one of each of our prize winners and a group photograph.  So please if you are able to help contact me via the CPCW email or by phone 021 447 952.

As of today there are only a few dinner payments yet to be made.  We have asked for the payment by 15th July 2022 so only a week or so to do so.

Last Weeks Walks

Last week was all about walking in our suburb.  All three walks included the track that runs through the very attractive valley that runs parallel to Melksham Drive. Eventually this track will continue quite a bit further than it does today.  There was a comment made by one local walker that he didn’t know that this track existed. Anyway there were 11 PP’s, 28 SS’s and 19 FF’s making a total of 58 for this local walk.  The very average day may have kept the numbers to a smaller number than usual.  On Thursday 4 of the “Thursday Night Crawlers” headed around Johnsonville and on Friday a group of 22 Friday Walkers took on firstly the Eastbourne coast and then a return via the Eastbourne hills.

This Weeks Walks

This week it is the Wainui Hill challenge, well for two groups it is but the PP’s have been spared and will have a flat coastal and river bank walk instead.  As parking is a little difficult we have split the three groups.  We trust that arrangements can be made to overcome any vehicles that have walkers from more that one group.  We have checked out the parking; there is not any  problem with the PP’s and FF’s and our inspection led us to believe that for the SS’s it is better than adequate.

PP’s: A 5.23km flat walk along paths and footpaths.  You can view the walk here.

Parking: On Port Road near the intersection with Barnes Street.

SS’s: A 5.45km there and back walk.  You can view the walk here.

Parking:  On Tunnel Grove and nearby streets.  Tunnel Grove is off Gracefield Road.

FF’s: A 7.90km walk on tracks or footpaths.  You can view the walk here.

Parking: On Port Road (SE end) near the intersection with Marine Drive.

Coffee

Coffee:  This will be at Columbus Coffee, Mitre 10 Mega,Petone.   We have advised them that we will be coming.

Cancellation

If the walks are cancelled an email will be sent out as early as possible but definitely before 8:00pm.

Happy July Walking

Koha

Every week we leave a note about Koha in the newsletter.  We have no idea what private sharing arrangements are in place regarding getting rides but we trust that those who don’t regularly bring cars do make up for it in some small way, be it buying a coffee for the driver or by making some small cash donation.

You can look at the walk schedule for the rest of July here.
