Current Wednesday Walk

9 March 2022

Convenor’s Comment

Firstly a big thanks to Brian Vincent for looking after things whilst we were holidaying down south.  I will have to ask him again towards the end of March as the South Island calls again.

Last Weeks Walks

The weather put paid to Wednesday’s walks.  However Thursday night’s weather was better and 6 Thursday Crawlers met up in Newlands for a walk in the Newland’s Hills.  Friday saw some 19 walkers head to Stokes Valley for a walk around the surrounding hills.  The early group of the Friday Walkers dropped out of the bush onto Stokes Valley Road after completing some 12 – 13km with at least another 1.5km still to go and behold; right in front of them was a bus.  So they all flashed their gold cards and got a ride the 1.5km back to their cars.  The slightly later group had to walk the whole way.

Photos

Here are some photos from last week and before.  Walkers please try and take a photo of each group on walking days and email them to peter@jville.kiwi preferably small size (around 450kb).

Wednesday 9th March 2022
General

Hopefully the weather will be kinder this coming Wednesday.

The three walks this Wednesday are all based in the Linden / Woodman Drive area of Tawa.  Again these are all walks in an area that we have enjoyed in the past.  Note that there are two different parking areas, one for the PP’s and FF’s and another for the SS’s.

Walks

PP’s: A 3.74km loop walk taking in the various streets with a small additional voluntary side loop into Wilf Mexted Reserve.  You can view the walk here.

SS’s: A 5.47km loop walk that includes a track through Wilf Mexted Reserve and another reserve a little street walk to the South.  You can view the walk here.

FF’s: A 7.80km loop similar to the SS’s but with a starting point a couple of streets to the west of the SS’s.  You can view the walk here.

Parking

The parking for the PP’s and the FF’s is in Hinau Street adjacent to an area of Reserve and near the intersection of Kowhai Street with Hinau Street.

Parking for the SS’s is in Woodman Drive anywhere near the entrance to Wilf Mexted Reserve.

Coffee

Coffee is at Gloria Jeans Coffees Tawa which is in the southern end of the Outlet Centre Building (Dress Smart).

Cancellation

If required will be by email at 8:00am.

Happy March Walking .

Koha

Remember that if you rely on others for your transport most weeks then a small $2 payment for a nearby walk and a $4 payment for a longer walk would help to lessen the costs a little for those providing the transport.
