General
Last Weeks Walks

All three walks took in the Titahi Bay coastline.  These are walks that we all have done several times but still remain popular.  The FF’s deviated from the pre planned walk to enable a trip up the hill to Pikarere Trig and were rewarded with wonderful views.  Only a few had been up to this spot before.  There were 11 PP’s, 26 SS’s and 19 FF’s making a total of 56 walkers most of whom visited Columbus Coffee on their way home.

On Thursday evening 7 Thursday Night Crawlers enjoyed a walk in fine but slightly windy conditions in the Churton Park general area.

Friday morning saw 18 Friday Walkers carrying out a circumnavigation of the Makara Mountain Bike Park followed by a coffee etc. at the Karori Park Café; always a good after walk venue.

Friday Night Drinkies

These went ahead on the Friday just past at Tawa’s Sprig and Fern establishment with about 25 or so enjoying the evening.

Photos

Here is the collection of photos from last week.  Walkers please try and take a photo of each group on walking days and email them to peter@jville.kiwi preferably small size (around 450kb).

Walk Schedules

You can look at the walk schedule for the rest of February here.

Wednesday 9th February 2022

Flat walks this week; all past walks starting from the Pauatahanui Village and taking in the board walks along the Porirua Harbour coastline.

PP’s: A 6.13km there and back walk.  Head out as far as walkers feel like and return.  You can view the walk here.

SS’s: A 6.31km out and back taking in the loop around Motukaraka Point.   You can view the walk here.

FF’s: A 8.40km loop also taking in Motukaraka Point but also including the second area of new board walk.  You can view the walk here.

Parking

Parking in our regular spot which is the carpark to the left as you turn off SH58 into Pauatahanui and approach the Lighthouse Cinema.

Coffee

Coffee will be at Groundup with an overflow available at Lighthouse Cinema.  Unfortunately neither take bookings.

Happy Walking,
Russell Paterson

Cancellation

The normal cancellation before 8:00am will be sent by email if required.

Koha

Remember that if you rely on others for your transport most weeks then a small $2 payment for a nearby walk and a $4 payment for a longer walk would help to lessen the costs a little for those providing the transport.

Laugh

I made a huge to do list for today.  I just can’t figure out who’s going to do it!
