Current Wednesday Walk

Convenor’s Comment

General

Walking week one went ahead with a very good turnout of 54 walkers made up of 8 PP’s, 24 SS’s and 22 FF’s.  The walks were well enjoyed by all especially the FF’s who went on some paths that only a few had ever been on before.

Photos

Here is the collection of photos from last week.  Walkers please try and take a photo of each group on walking days and email them to peter@jville.kiwi preferably small size (around 450kb).

This weeks Walks

This weeks walk are based around having an after walk picnic in the small park at the south end of Aotea Lagoon.  The parking for the walks is in the same area as noted below.

PP’s: A 3.53km loop walk around the paths and streets all in the general area of Aotea Lagoon.   You can view the walk here.

SS’s: A 6.01km loop walk similarly on paths and streets within the general area of Aotea Lagoon.  You can view the walk here.

FF’s: A 7.11km loop walk similar but in a different area to the SS’s walk.  You can view the walk here.

Parking

Parking is in the street in the general area of the South End of Aotea Lagoon.  The parking street is Papakowhai Road which is the first left off Whitford Brown Drive which is the road that intersects SH1 at the traffic lights just North of Porirua.  The start/end point of the walks as shown on the maps shows the general area.

Coffee

We are having a picnic in the park at the south end of Aotea Lagoon.  So please bring your rugs or chairs and your thermos of coffee or tea and perhaps a snack.  If the weather does not play it’s part then there is Mitre 10 Mega just up the road who will cope with us as best they can without a warning.

Friday Night Drinkies

The first Friday Night Drinkies will be the first Friday in February and a reminder noted in the week before’s email.

So trust the picnic goes well, Helen and I can’t make it but Brian Vincent will be there to answer any queries and send you on your way.

Happy Walking,
Russell Paterson

Cancellation

The normal cancellation before 8:00am will be sent by email if required.

Koha

Remember that if you rely on others for your transport most weeks then a small $2 payment for a nearby walk and a $4 payment for a longer walk would help to lessen the costs a little for those providing the transport.
