Convenor’s Comment

Last Weeks Walks

Firstly an apology about the parking.  The previous Monday was a public holiday so not ideal to check the parking and Tuesday was otherwise occupied.  So I hope everyone finally found a park and got to the walk on time.  It was a bit of a surprise to find Pito-One Road so full of cars.  We do know of one walker who gave up.  Anyway a grand total of 65 made the walk with this being made up of 12 PP’s 29 FF’s and 24 FF’s.

The weather was not ideal on Thursday night and so the walks were cancelled and replaced by a small social gathering at one of local establishments.  The weather cleared during the night and allowed some 17 Fast Footers to head out on Friday morning taking on a walk up one side of the Hutt River and a return on the opposite side, a total length of 17km’s.

New Walkers

If you bring friends or visitors along for a walk please accompany them unless you are really sure of their abilities.  We had some visitors who went on the SS’s walk and still walking within the Korokoro bush whilst this left others who were sharing a ride with a wait of well over half an hour and wondering if the absent walkers were OK.  So please accompany any friends or visitors you may bring along unless you are very sure of their walking abilities.

Koha

Every week we leave a note about Koha in the newsletter.  We have no idea what private sharing arrangements are in place regarding getting rides but we trust that those who don’t regularly bring cars do make up for it in some small way, be it buying a coffee for the driver or by making some small cash donation.

Photos

Here are some photos from last week.  Walkers please try and take a photo of each group on walking days and email them to peter@jville.kiwi preferably small size (around 450kb).

This week's walks

This week the walks are based in Johnsonville.  They are walks we have completed in the past or are a variation of one of these.  These walks are a mixture of walkways, tracks and roads but hopefully no mud.

PP’s: A 5.37km loop using walkways, tracks and roads within Johnsonville.  Only minor hills.  Can be shortened at the discretion of the walkers.  You can view the walk here.

SS’s: A 6.31km loop walk taking in the tracks, walkways and streets of Johnsonville.  You can view the walk here.

FF’s: A 8.37km loop also taking in the tracks, walkways and streets of Johnsonville.  You can view the walk here.

Parking:

Parking is in the Alex Moore Park carpark which is accessed from Bannister Avenue.

Coffee

We have told Simmer Café that we are coming.

Cancellation

If required will be by email at 7:30am.

Happy April Walking

Koha

Remember that if you rely on others for your transport most weeks then a small $2 payment for a nearby walk and a $4 payment for a longer walk would help to lessen the costs a little for those providing the transport.

Laugh

“Siri, why am I so bad at relationships with women?”  …. “This is Alexa.”
