Last Weeks Walks

Wednesday’s walks gave us all a good look around the streets of Karori.  The day was perfect for walking with 15 PP’s, 36 SS’s and 20 FF’s taking part making up a total of 71 walkers.  Thursday night saw 9 Thursday Night Explorers walking on off road tracks and footpaths.  However the weather meant that there was no walk for the Friday Walkers.

This Weeks Walks

All this Wednesday’s walk start in the Crofton Downs / Chartwell / Ngaio  area.  Parking in the past has been a huge problem in this area so this week we have all three groups parking in different areas but all within walking distance of each other.

PP’s: A 3.50km loop taking in a well formed track along the route of a small stream and then up to and back along a street to the start point.  There is nothing too steep.       You can see the walk here.

PP's Parking

Parking is in the Otari Reserve car park on Wilton Bush Road which is off Churchill Drive. Turn off right at the dip in Churchill Drive just after passing Blackbridge Road.

SS’s: A 6.13km loop walk also on a mixture of tracks, walkways and footpaths including some not so steep hills.  There are shortcuts available should walkers find any parts of the walk they may think are unsuitable for them.   You can see the walk here.

SS's Parking

Parking is in Chartwell Drive between Sandhurst Way and Randolph Road. (Opposite Crofton Downs School.)  You can see the walk here.

FF’s: A 6.94km loop taking in tracks and paths and roads.  You can see the walk here.

FF's Parking

Parking is well up Chartwell Drive starting just a little past all of the housing.

Parking

As above.

Coffee

Coffee is anywhere you want to arrange with other walkers before your journey back to Churton Park with this of course including Simmer.

Website

When you open the website to view your walk have a quick look at the “Home Page”.  This usually has a new picture each week generally showing a view from one of our walks.

Cancellation

If the walks are cancelled an email will be sent out as early as possible but definitely before 8:00am.

Koha

Every week we leave a note about Koha in the newsletter.  We have no idea what private sharing arrangements are in place regarding getting rides but we trust that those who don’t regularly bring cars do make up for it in some small way, be it buying a coffee for the driver or by making some small cash donation.

Photos

Below are some photos from the week before last.  Walkers please try and take a photo of each group on walking days and email them to peter@jville.kiwi preferably small size (around 450kb).
