Churton Park Community Walkers

Newsletter 20 November 2022

Last Weeks Walks

Last Wednesday 33 walkers enjoyed the walk in Khandallah.  There were 5 Fast footers, 17 Steady Steppers and 11 Pleasure Pacers.  On Thursday 3 ‘Thursday Twilight Explorers’ (note their new name) walked from Churton Park to J’ville using off road tracks and some streets.  The Friday group had only 4 walkers this week due no doubt to the absences of some of those who enjoyed the annual away trip – this time to Motueka – and who are still away. They walked around Battle Hill and Puketiro Hill.

Christmas Lunch

We have finalised arrangements for those walkers who have paid to take the bus to The Pines.  Brian Alderson advises that we have 37 passengers confirmed so room for more people, $10 pp return.

Bus departs Churton Park shopping centre 11.25am, loading from 11.15am.  Arrives at The Pines midday.

Departs The Pines 3.30pm, arrives Churton Park 4.10pm.

This Weeks Walks (Wednesday 23 November)

Here are the three walks for Wednesday 23 November 2022.

PP’s: A 3.25km out and back walk along the coast, firstly towards the Marae and secondly back towards the shops.  You can view the walk here.

SS’s: A 6.78km loop that heads up Airlie Road and returns via the ridgeline track.  The walk is half on roads and half on a track with superb views.  You can view the walk here.

FF’s: A 8.28km loop up steps to The Track, along the ridgeline track and back via the joint bike and walking track. You can view the walk here.

Parking

Parking for all three groups is in the parking area outside the Plimmerton Yacht and Boat Club.

When you open the website to view your walk have a quick look at the “Home Page”.  This usually has a new picture each week generally showing a view from one of our walks.

Koha

Every week we leave a note about Koha in the newsletter.  We have no idea what private sharing arrangements are in place regarding getting rides but we trust that those who don’t regularly bring cars do make up for it in some small way, be it buying a coffee for the driver or by making some small cash donation.

Walk Schedules

You can look at the walk schedule for the rest of November here.

Photos

Below are some photos from the week before last.  Walkers please try and take a photo of each group on walking days and email them to peter@jville.kiwi preferably small size (around 450kb).
