Convenor’s Comment

Last Weeks Walks

Because of the Churton Park morning weather it was a very indecisive start for the usual Wednesday Walks with some thinking coffee would be better idea than walking but eventually 36 walkers headed over to a very fine Karori for their walks in pleasant surrounds.  The walkers were made up of 7 PP’s, 12 SS’s and 17 FF’s. 27 or so headed to Karori Park Café after the walk for coffee etc.   On Thursday evening 7 Thursday Night Crawlers headed to a fine Newlands for their walks and on Friday 22 Friday Walkers headed to the top of Kaukau and back via Crofton Downs.

Photos

Here are some photos from last week and before.  Walkers please try and take a photo of each group on walking days and email them to peter@jville.kiwi preferably small size (around 450kb).

This week's walks

This week we will have another attempt to complete the walks based around the the streets and hills of Plimmerton.  (The longterm forecast is not great but one never knows.)

Walks

PP’s: A 4.24km coastal there and back walk made up of two separate parts.  The walk is all on footpaths.  You can view the walk here.

SS’s: A 6.68 mainly country loop walk.  A part is on a ridge line track and good footwear is advised.  You can view the walk here.

FF’s: A 8.28km loop including steps, pathways and a rural ridgeline.  You can view the walk here.

Parking

The parking for all three groups is in the parking area outside on the road near the entrance to the Plimmerton Yacht and Motor Boat  Club. (Far end of Plimmerton)

Coffee

This will be the Backyard Café which is within Palmers Plimmerton. (Garden Centre).  They have been informed that we will be coming and have coped with our numbers in the past.

General

Brian Vincent has kindly taken over my duties for the next two weeks.

Cancellation

If required will be by email at 8:00am.

Happy March Walking .

Koha

Remember that if you rely on others for your transport most weeks then a small $2 payment for a nearby walk and a $4 payment for a longer walk would help to lessen the costs a little for those providing the transport.
