Last Weeks Walks

Although last Wednesday began with rather cold temperatures, by the time we arrived in Karori it was quite pleasant for our walks and a smaller crowd than normal enjoyed strolling through the suburb. There were 23 fast footers, 7 pleasure pacers and 19 steady steppers.  On Thursday evening there were 5 walkers who enjoyed their quite hilly walk around Churton Park.  Eighteen Friday walkers went on a double loop around Hataitai and Roseneath – a walk arranged earlier by Alison which included some stunning views.

Drinks and a Meal

Our monthly drinks and a meal or snack are on at the Sprig and Fern this Friday 2 June from 5pm.

This Weeks Walks (Wednesday 31 May)

This week we head to Titahi Bay on Wednesday.  We have tried to avoid wet boggy tracks.  Normally our walks in Titahi Bay do not encounter as much mud as some other areas.  The walks are repeats of the walks carried out in the past.

PP’s: A 4.49km loop taking in walkways and footpaths.  There is nothing too steep.    You can see the walk here.

SS’s: A 6.46km loop walk incorporating a short bit of track with the rest around streets.  Undulating in parts.  You can see the walk here.

FF’s: A 7.73km loop taking in quite a lot of Titahi Bay and of course there will be a few hills.  You can see the walk here.

Parking

The main area of parking is at the end on Bay Drive quite close to the beach.  There are about 30 angle parks marked.  Generally, most of these are unoccupied when we arrive in this area.  There is additional parking using the nearby streets.

Coffee

This is Columbus Coffee in Mitre 10 Mega, Porirua.  We will have warned them that a group of us will be arriving after our walks.

Website

When you open the website to view your walk have a quick look at the “Home Page”.  This usually has a new picture each week generally showing a view from one of our walks.

Cancellation

If the walks are cancelled an email will be sent out as early as possible but definitely before 8:00am.

Enjoy your walks.
Brian Vincent.
