Newsletter 10 July 2022

9th Anniversary Dinner

At his stage we are still after a volunteer photographer. So please if you are able to help contact me via the CPCW email or by phone 021 447 952.  The work will be limited to a photo of each table and perhaps a panoramic photo of the whole group. As of today we have 78 attendees with just a couple still to pay up.

Last Weeks Walks

Last week’s walks for the SS’s and FF’s was the Wainui Hill Challenge with the PP’s having an alternative walk taking in the Shandon Golf Course.  Some of the SS’s suggested they would have liked to have taken the same route as the FF’s and end up in Pt Howard; so next time we do it we may have to have some drop off and pickups for that group with this reducing the total distance to something more manageable in the time available and then they will be able to do this.  Anyway the hill challenge was completed by some 20 SS’s and 14 FF’s with some 18 PP’s carrying out the Golf Course Walk making a total of 52.  Considering the early morning weather this was still a reasonable turnout.  On Thursday night 4 of our Thursday Night Crawlers walked around Churton Park but on Friday all walkers stayed home and out of the rain.

This Weeks Walks

This week it is off to Aotea with all walks utilising some of the tracks within Bothamley Park.  Some of the local schools have added lots of Fairy Houses etc etc so be on the look out for these.  The tracks within the park are normally in good condition and generally are clear of  mud. The walks are all a little shorter than normal but there still is the odd rise or two that should slow most walkers down.

PP’s: A 2.55km loop walk along tracks and footpaths.  You can view the walk here.

SS’s: A 4.93km loop walk along tracks and footpaths.  You can view the walk here.

FF’s: A 6.28km loop walk along tracks and footpaths.  You can view the walk here.

A link to a parking map is added below.  The parking is the side of the street parking within Fiordland Place and the adjoining Abel Glen.

Koha

Every week we leave a note about Koha in the newsletter.  We have no idea what private sharing arrangements are in place regarding getting rides but we trust that those who don’t regularly bring cars do make up for it in some small way, be it buying a coffee for the driver or by making some small cash donation.

Walk Schedules

You can look at the walk schedule for the rest of July here.

Below are some photos from last week.  Walkers please try and take a photo of each group on walking days and email them to peter@jville.kiwi preferably small size (around 450kb).
