Last Weeks Walks

The visit to Plimmerton was cancelled for the SS’s and FF’s due to possible track conditions after a night’s heavy rain; however these cancelled walks were replaced by some local walks.  17 SS’s walkers and 6 FF’s took part in these local walks.  The PP’s were always going to be on a firm and fast track so some 9 PP’s walkers headed out to the planned walk in Plimmerton.  The now named Thursday Night Explorers headed out around the streets of Churton Park on Thursday night but the numbers on this occasion were down to 2.  With quite a few away walkers back, Friday Walkers had a good turnout of 13 walkers for their walk in the Rimutaka Forest Park.

Christmas Lunch

We have over 70 walkers and partners attending. The doors are open at 12 Noon. Get yourself a drink, either cash or card and try and be seated by 12:30 for the start of proceedings.

Christmas Lunch bus details, Thursday 1 December.

Bus departs CP shopping centre 11.25am, loading from 11.15am.  Arrives at The Pines midday.

Away Walk 2023

The Away Walk for next year is at New Plymouth from 5 to 10 November. The timeframe for booking is short as we are in competition with the return of overseas tourists. A deposit of $50 per person needs to be paid by Friday 2 December. If you are interested please contact David Pegram (David.Pegram.nz@gmail.com) for detailed information.

This Weeks Walks (Wednesday 30 November)

Here are the three walks for Wednesday 23rd November 2022.  They are walks we have used before but with a slight variation for the PP’s and the SS’s.

PP’s: A 2.53km loop firstly along a reasonably flat track, then through a park and a return along a slightly uphill road. A shorter walk but the slower pace on the bush track will take a little longer than the usual streets. You can see the walk here.

SS’s: A 4.46km loop that is half in the bush and half on the road.  It includes a bit of hill walking.  You can see the walk here.

FF’s: A 7.28km loop that is mainly in bush.  It is a reverse of a walk we have walked in the past. You can see the walk here.

Parking

Parking for all three groups is in Ladbrooke Drive.  The tracks head off near the start of Ladbrooke Drive.  Ladbrooke Drive is a long street so there should be ample parking for all.

Coffee

Coffee will be back at Simmer.  They will have been told we are coming.

Website

When you open the website to view your walk have a quick look at the “Home Page”.  This usually has a new picture each week generally showing a view from one of our walks.

Cancellation

If the walks are cancelled an email will be sent out as early as possible but definitely before 8:00am.

Happy November Walking

Koha

Every week we leave a note about Koha in the newsletter.  We have no idea what private sharing arrangements are in place regarding getting rides but we trust that those who don’t regularly bring cars do make up for it in some small way, be it buying a coffee for the driver or by making some small cash donation.

Walk Schedules

You can look at the walk schedule for December here.

Photos

Below are some photos from the week before last.  Walkers please try and take a photo of each group on walking days and email them to peter@jville.kiwi preferably small size (around 450kb).
