Last Weeks Walks

Hi everyone – that was a most enjoyable festive end of year ‘big week’! As we had our Christmas lunch on Wednesday, there were no walks that day (and in any event it was raining early in the morning).

However on Thursday eight walkers ventured around Churton Park and on Friday 18 walked around Wilton Bush.  A good turn-out for our drinks at the Sprig and Fern completed the week.

Wairarapa ‘Away Walk’ 2024

A final reminder that the ‘Away Walk’ next year is to the Wairarapa. David Pegram advises that we are staying at the Solway Park Hotel in Masterton for three nights, arriving Tuesday 5 November. We currently have on hold 10 Standard Studio rooms, which have twin queen beds ($170 per night) and 15 Superior King rooms ($190 per night). A non-refundable deposit of $50 per person is required before Monday 4 December. The short timeframe is because the rooms are only on hold for a limited time.

If you are interested in going on the trip please:

1 Pay the deposit to the CPCW bank account  02-0524-0233091-000  -   Please add ‘Wairarapa” in the reference field.

2 Send an email to David Pegram (David.Pegram.nz@gmail.com) with your room preference. Rooms will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

Single people can either opt for a room by themselves or look to share.

Have a great week

Reminder

Please ensure that you inform your group’s leader if you leave a walk partway through.

This Weeks Walks (Wednesday 6 December)

The schedule noted this weeks walks as Melling or Kennedy Good Bridge.  So it is going to be Kennedy Good Bridge with all walks starting at Avalon Park, a carpark we have used many times before.

PP’s: A 5.90km flat loop heading north via the streets and parks of the Avalon area and returning back via the true left bank of the Hutt River.  You can see the walk here.

SS’s: A 7.69km flat loop heading north via streets and paths and returning back along the true left bank of the Hutt River.  You can see the walk here.

FF’s: A 9.9km flat loop heading up along the true left bank of the Hutt River and returning back through streets and parks.  You can see the walk here.

Parking

The parking for all three groups is within the Avalon Park Carpark.  Taking the Hutt Motorway turn right at the lights just north of the Kelson turnoff.  This brings you onto Fairway Drive which incorporated the Kennedy Good Bridge. Continue along Fairway Drive for two hundred metres or so and turn left into the large carpark.

Coffee

We have informed Columbus Coffee, Mitre 10 Mega, Petone that’s a number of us will be coming for coffee and perhaps a nibble.

Enjoy your walks
