Christmas Lunch

Reserve the date.  The date is Thursday 1st December 2022 with this being held again at the Pines.  Like last year a bus will be available.  (We missed out on a suitable Wednesday even though we tried to book one way back in March.)

Last Weeks Walks

The walks in Whitby proved very popular with the week before high numbers being exceeded by 1.  This total of 78 walkers was made up of 25 PP’s, 31 SS’s and 22 FF’s.  On Thursday evening 4 of the Thursday Night Crawlers ventured a bit further afield starting at Johnsonville and taking in parts of Paparangi and Newlands and then back to Johnsonville and on Friday, 21 Friday Walkers circumnavigated the Zealandia Sanctuary Fenceline.

This Weeks Walks (Wednesday 14 September)

Brian Vincent has requested that at some stage can he and the rest of the SS’s walk the Camborne end of the northern shoreline of Porirua Inlet.  They have already walked the other half of this shoreline several times starting at Pauatahanui. So the SS’s have a walk from the Ngatitoa Domain to the toilets on Motukaraka Point.  This there and back flat walk totals 7.78km’s but walkers can turn around and go back anytime.  The PP’s have an elongated and narrow loop walk with a bit of shoreline and the FF’s head all over Camborne.

PP’s: A 4.34km loop walk taking in the footpaths and tracks of Mana. The walk takes in a not too difficult hill to allow access to the shoreline and the colourful boat sheds. You can view the walk here

SS’s: A 7.78km there and back flat walk on a designated road walking area along Gray’s Road.  The walk can be shortened at anytime by turning around and walking back at any point. You can view the walk here

FF’s:  A 7.05km loop walk also taking in the footpaths and tracks of Camborne. You can view the walk here

Parking

Parking for the SS’s is in the carpark on the right on the extension of Pascoe Avenue a short way into Ngatitoa Domain.  Parking for the PP’s and FF’s is in the carpark that is within Ngatitoa Domain but up by the Mana Station.  Pascoe Avenue is the second on the left after crossing Paremata Bridge.

Happy September Walking

Koha

Every week we leave a note about Koha in the newsletter.  We have no idea what private sharing arrangements are in place regarding getting rides but we trust that those who don’t regularly bring cars do make up for it in some small way, be it buying a coffee for the driver or by making some small cash donation.

Walk Schedules

You can look at the walk schedule for the rest of September here.

Below are some photos from the week before last.  Walkers please try and take a photo of each group on walking days and email them to peter@jville.kiwi preferably small size (around 450kb).
