Last Weeks Walks

Well it certainly was windy and thus the walks were “Real Wellington Walks” in that respect.  Some 7 PP’s, 25 SS’s and 19 FF’s walked from their differing starting points, a total of 51 walkers.  Considering the day then this was still a very good number.  8 of The Thursday Night Crawlers headed off to Ngaio for a change of scenery. We hear that they walked mainly on tracks but  interspersed with a lot of steps.  The Friday Walkers had a late change of venue with 9 walkers taking on the hill tracks west of Petone and into Maungaraki.

Christmas Lunch

Yet still another reminder that the date for the Christmas Lunch is Thursday 1st  December 2022.  This will again be at “The Pines”.  The price is the same as last year, that is $40 per head and the bus will also be available at $10 per head.  (For those who need more time to make a decision on whether they will be coming or not, then we would need to know by the date that has been set by the Caterer for final numbers and that is Thursday 17th November)  Confirmation at least should be made as soon as possible by email (churtonparkcw@gmail.com) and online payment can be made to the Churton Park Community Walkers Bank Account No: 02-0524-0233091-000 using name/s and CPCW X dinner as reference.  We definitely have a starting quorum.

This Weeks Walks (Wednesday 9 November)

Here are the three walks for Wednesday 9th November 2022.  They are local Churton Park walks. Remember that a good number of walkers are away down south for the week, so there will be fewer walkers than usual.

PP’s: A 4.21km loop heading up the two valley tracks and back via the road.  You can view the walk here.

SS’s: A 6.08km loop that heads towards Johnsonville and then returns.  The walk is mainly on footpaths. You can view the walk here.

FF’s: A 6.62km valley loop on tracks and footpaths. You can view the walk here.

Parking

Parking for all three groups is within the Churton Park Village carpark but please remember to park in the south eastern corner or thereabouts thereby leaving the closer carparks for the shoppers.

Coffee

Nothing is booked but as the numbers will be lower than usual we expect that Simmer will be pleased to see you even without our usual warning.

Website

When you open the website to view your walk have a quick look at the “Home Page”.  This usually has a new picture each week generally showing a view from one of our walks.

Cancellation

If the walks are cancelled an email will be sent out as early as possible but definitely before 8:00am.

Happy November Walking

Koha

Every week we leave a note about Koha in the newsletter.  We have no idea what private sharing arrangements are in place regarding getting rides but we trust that those who don’t regularly bring cars do make up for it in some small way, be it buying a coffee for the driver or by making some small cash donation.

Walk Schedules

You can look at the walk schedule for the rest of November here.

Photos

Below are some photos from the week before last.  Walkers please try and take a photo of each group on walking days and email them to peter@jville.kiwi preferably small size (around 450kb).
