Last Weeks Walks

This week all three groups braved the elements. On Wednesday 49 intrepid walkers (9PP, 17SS & 23FF) set out from the supermarket carpark on an overcast morning with many of them reaching the lower cloud layer on the ridgeline behind Churton Park during their walk. On Thursday 5 walkers battled the wind on a walk around Johnsonville. Twelve Friday Walkers, Joggers, Scramblers started their jaunt in equally unpromising weather and with a gloomy forecast but remained dry and warm throughout their gentle wander through the Karori Mountainbike Park and saunter up and down Wright's Hill.

Thank you to everyone involved in planning and leading these walks.

Regards
David

Reminder

Please ensure that you inform your group’s leader if you leave a walk partway through.

This Weeks Walks (Wednesday 27 September)

It’s school holidays and hopefully the traffic heading to town is quite a bit less than usual.    To take advantage of this we have planned to have our walks in the Evans Bay Area.

PP’s: A 3.31km flat walk incorporating heading to and around the Anau Tangi Sports Centre and then on to the very expensive pedestrian crossing that crosses Cobram Drive and then back to the start point but keeping to the coast. Should the weather make keeping to the coast too uncomfortable then a circuit of Kilbirnie Park and the Aquatic Centre etc could replace the planned walk.  You can see the walk here.

SS’s: A 6.30km loop walk heading up to and along the ridge parallel to the coast and then back to the start via the coast.  This is a walk we have used a couple of times in the past.  You can see the walk here.

FF’s: A 7.7km loop walk that is a reverse of a walk that we have carried out in the past.  Firstly along the coast and then back along the ridge and then down to the start point.  You can see the walk here.

Enjoy your walks

Parking

Parking is on the side of Evans Bay Parade as near to the corner of Cobram Drive as is sensible with overflow into the nearby car parking areas.

Coffee

It is walkers choice of where to go for coffee.  There is one nearby on Evans Bay Parade and others on the way home.  And of course there is Simmer back at Churton Park. We have not made any special arrangements.

Website

When you open the website to view your walk have a quick look at the “Home Page”.  This usually has a new picture each week generally showing a view from one of our walks.

Cancellation

If the walks are cancelled an email will be sent out as early as possible but definitely before 8:00am.

Walk Schedules

You can look at the walk schedule for October here

Photos

Below here are the photos from last week.  Walkers please try and take a photo of each group on walking days and email them to peter@jville.kiwi.  Preferably small size (around 450kb).
