Last Weeks Walks

Quite a crowd turned up in Whitby for the walks around the streets of Whitby.  The total number of Wednesday Walkers who took part was 75 made up of 16 PP’s, 43 SS’s and 16 FF’s.  Seven Thursday Night Explorers plus Red the dog were out taking on the tracks, roads and footpaths of Churton Park through into Johnsonville and then back home again.  Friday Walkers had a plan “B” for bad weather with this meaning a reasonably local walk up to Crows Nest and then along parts of the Skyline Walkway. 16 Friday Walkers took part.

This Weeks Walks

This weeks walks are all in Karori.  These are all street walks that take in a large part of Karori.  There should not be any mud but there could be a couple of Hills.  All walks are new but take in parts of Karori that we have walked before and other parts that we haven’t.

PP’s: A 4.48km loop taking in walkways and footpaths.  There is nothing too steep.    You can see the walk here.

SS’s: A 6.35km loop walk also on a mixture of walkways and footpaths including some not so steep hills.  You can see the walk here.

FF’s: A 7.35km loop taking in quite a lot of Karori and of course there will be a few hills.  You can see the walk here.

Parking

Samuel Parnell Road runs between Parkvale Road and Chamberlain Road.  If you believe the aerial photographs there are some 40 carparks in this road.  So Samuel Parnell Road (and nearby streets if needed) is the parking for these walks.  Turn right off Karori Road into Parkvale Road and then 1st left into Samuel Parnell Road.

Coffee

Park Café in Karori Park is the venue for coffee.  It is quite a large venue.  We will let them know that a group of us will be coming there.  There is always Simmer back at Churton Park as well.

Website

When you open the website to view your walk have a quick look at the “Home Page”.  This usually has a new picture each week generally showing a view from one of our walks.

Cancellation

If the walks are cancelled an email will be sent out as early as possible but definitely before 8:00am.

Koha

Every week we leave a note about Koha in the newsletter.  We have no idea what private sharing arrangements are in place regarding getting rides but we trust that those who don’t regularly bring cars do make up for it in some small way, be it buying a coffee for the driver or by making some small cash donation.

Walk Schedules

You can look at the walk schedule for the rest March here

Photos

Below are some photos from the week before last.  Walkers please try and take a photo of each group on walking days and email them to peter@jville.kiwi preferably small size (around 450kb).
