Churton Park Community Walkers

9th Anniversary Dinner

No takers for the role of Photographer at our function so we ask that as most of us carry a phone capable of pretty good photographs that we all take a photo of our own and or an adjoining table and send them to ChurtonparkCW@gmail.com.  The final number of attendees is looking to be 77

Last Weeks Walks

Last week’s walks were centred on Bothamley Park with these walks carried out in surprisingly good conditions.  There was a little bit of mud in one area where workers were upgrading the path, but otherwise very good tracks.  There may have been a wrong turn for some of the walkers but that doesn’t matter as long as we all get back to our cars eventually.   With the weather being fairly average before nine o’clock we expected the numbers to be down but we still managed to have 47 walkers made up of 14 PP’s, 22 SS’s and 11 FF’s.    4 of the Thursday Night Crawlers headed around the streets of Churton Park again.  Christine who organises this group has headed off overseas for a while. We wish her a great time.  She has passed on the organising duties to one of her regular walkers to cover the time she is away. The Friday Walkers were frightened by the forecast and let a good walking day slip by so no numbers to report. We do know that some of the walkers did walk locally anyway.

This Weeks Walks

This week we are off to Evans Bay for three walks with the PP’s keeping to the flat and both the SS’s and FF’s taking in the nearby hill as well.  A nice shoreline to view and lots of interesting houses etc to note.

PP’s: A 2.55km there and back walk with a loop around the NIWA complex and the adjoining townhouses.  You can view the walk here.

SS’s: A 6.30km loop walk along footpaths.  You can view the walk here.

FF’s: A 7.07km loop walk along footpaths. You can view the walk here.

Parking

Parking is within the car parks within the marina complex or on the street near to the South end of Evans Bay Parade.  No matter where you find your carpark all walks start near to the corner of Evans Bay Parade.  So please congregate there.

Coffee

This will be back at Simmer.  If however you find a CafĂ© on the way home you are very welcome to take advantage of this.   We have however advised Simmer that a number of us will be coming.

Cancellation

If the walks are cancelled an email will be sent out as early as possible but definitely before 8:00am.

Happy July Walking

Koha

Every week we leave a note about Koha in the newsletter.  We have no idea what private sharing arrangements are in place regarding getting rides but we trust that those who don’t regularly bring cars do make up for it in some small way, be it buying a coffee for the driver or by making some small cash donation.

Walk Schedules

You can look at the walk schedule for the rest of July here.

Photos

Below are some photos from last week.  Walkers please try and take a photo of each group on walking days and email them to peter@jville.kiwi preferably small size (around 450kb).
