Last Weeks Walks

The weather was a bit windy but the rain had cleared so conditions for walking were OK. Various routes were taken by the three groups on the good quality tracks within the Gilbert Bush Reserve. We did note a lot of dogs within the Doggy Park but they didn’t create any problems. We had 6 PP’s, 18 SS’s and 20 FF’s making a total of 44 walkers. On Thursday night 9 Thursday Night Explorers took on the streets and tracks of Crofton Downs and on Friday morning 14 Friday walkers walked the Southern Walkway.

2023 Social Event Dates

We are pleased to announce that bookings have been made for our 10th Anniversary Dinner and for the end of year luncheon. Our Anniversary dinner will be held at The Pines on Saturday evening of 29 July. The end of year Christmas function will also be at The Pines, on Wednesday 29 November. Please note these two dates in your diaries. Further details will be advised next year.

This Weeks Walks (Wednesday 7 December)

This week we try to carry out three walks that were the subject of a cancellation in the past. All three are within the suburb of Berhampore. We trust the traffic will play its part! The three walks for Wednesday 7th December 2022 are noted below.

PP’s: A 3.62km with a loop taking in parts of Macalister Park and some adjoining streets. You can see the walk here.

SS’s: A 4.99km loop that circumnavigates Macalister Park. On tracks and footpaths. You can see the walk here.

FF’s: A 7.03km loop that loops around the the streets that surround Macalister Park. You can see the walk here.

Parking

Parking for all three groups is in the large parking area in Liardet Street on the western fringe of Macalister Park. (Near the changing rooms). Macalister Park has two levels and the parking is on the fringe of the upper level. This upper level of the park is also recently been renamed as Liardet Park. A simple way to get there is to proceed up Adelaide Road, turn right at the lights into Britomart Street and this leads directly into Liardet Street. Or use Google Maps!

Coffee

Coffee will be back at Simmer. They will have been told that a number of us will be coming. You are also welcome to stop elsewhere on your way home instead.

Website

When you open the website to view your walk have a quick look at the “Home Page”. This usually has a new picture each week generally showing a view from one of our walks.

Cancellation

If the walks are cancelled an email will be sent out as early as possible but definitely before 8:00am.

Koha

Every week we leave a note about Koha in the newsletter. We have no idea what private sharing arrangements are in place regarding getting rides but we trust that those who don’t regularly bring cars do make up for it in some small way, be it buying a coffee for the driver or by making some small cash donation.
