Last Weeks Walks

On Wednesday 61 walkers (20PP, 20SS & 21FF) were out and about in Whitby. Thanks to Andy Dunn for preparing these walks as he does whenever we walk in Whitby. Three walkers were out on Thursday evening in Churton Park and on Friday 11 people tackled tracks within in Remutaka Forest Park.

2023 Christmas Lunch Function

If you are planning to attend the Christmas lunch and have yet to pay, please put payment at the top of your 'to do list'. The cost is $52 for lunch and charter bus from Churton Park, or $42 for lunch if you are providing your own transport. It would be good if as many people as possible used the bus as this helps keep costs down.

Sprig & Fern

This coming Friday is drinks at the Sprig & Fern in Tawa, 5pm.

Annual Walking Trip

On Sunday (if not before) 48 walkers head to New Plymouth for the annual walking trip. Best wishes for safe travels, enjoyable walks and a convivial five days together.

Reminder

Please ensure that you inform your group’s leader if you leave a walk partway through.

This Weeks Walks (Wednesday 1 November)

This week we move to Paekakariki and Queen Elizabeth Park for our three walks.  These walks have been prepared and mapped by Bill Gaudie and are varied from those we have carried out in the past.

PP’s: A 4.1km loop walk that starts on the tracks within Queen Elizabeth Park and extends out into the streets of Paekakariki.  The walk is undulating within the Park and reasonably flat in the streets adjacent to the park.  You can see the walk here.

SS’s: A 5.6km loop completely within Queen Elizabeth Park utilising the undulating tracks.  You can see the walk here.

FF’s: A 7.2km walk that starts on the tracks within Queen Elizabeth Park and extends out into the streets of Paekakariki.  The walk is undulating within the Park and reasonably flat in the streets adjacent to the park.  You can see the walk here.

Parking

Parking is in the parking area near the toilets within Queen Elizabeth Park.  Turn off the State Highway into the Main Street of Paekakariki (Beach Street) and then turn right into Wellington Road and continue on into Queen Elizabeth Park and then take the first left and you will come across the Toilet Block and the adjacent parking area.

Coffee

This is to be a picnic within Queen Elizabeth Park.  So, bring your own tea or coffee, perhaps a bite to eat and a chair or rug.  If the weather is not quite suitable then there are a couple of coffee bars within the Paekakariki shops.

Website

When you open the website to view your walk have a quick look at the “Home Page”.  This usually has a new picture each week generally showing a view from one of our walks.

Cancellation

If the walks are cancelled an email will be sent out as early as possible but definitely before 8:00am.
