Last week:
Score for the past week: CPCW 3 Wellington Winter Weather 0. There were 5 PPs, 29 SSs and 26 FFs who represented the CPCW team on Wednesday. Christine Binns was the sole Thursday walker out for a 6.4km walk to Johsonville and return. Friday saw 18 walkers out in the hills above Eastbourne and walking 13km. Fingers crossed for next week's fixtures!
Don't forget drinks at the Johnsonville Club this Friday - September 5th - from 5.0pm.

Walk Details for Wednesday 3rd September 2025
This Week's Walks: Trust all walkers enjoyed their trip on the train last week. This week we are off to Porirua where our walks give us a view of the housing development next to Kenepuru Hospital and take us past the nearby CBD. All three walks begin and end at the parking in Raiha Street. The walks will start at 9:20am from the designated starting point.
PPs: A 4.80 km loop on footpaths and good quality tracks. There are a couple of busier streets to cross, but these are protected by lights or crossings. There are only a few gentle climbs included in the walk. You can see the walk here.
SSs: A 6.02 km loop on footpaths and good quality tracks. Again, there are lights or pedestrian crossings for crossing any of the busier roads. Generally fairly easy walking. You can see the walk here.
FFs: A 7.42 km loop also on footpaths and good quality tracks. By this group's standards this is a fairly easy Wednesday walk. You can see the walk on Mapometer here and on Plotaroute here.
Parking: Parking for all three groups is on the sides of Raiha Street somewhere near the gated entrance to Farm Road . We will just have to spread out along the roadside parking.
Coffee: Coffee for all three groups is at Columbus Coffee in Mitre 10 Mega, Porirua. They will be notified that a number of us will be calling in for coffee and perhaps a snack.

CPCW Film Outing - 'Mr Burton' Film evening cancelled.
Unfortunately, we have not reached the minimum number required for the cinema theatre hire. Thank you to the respondents and refunds have been arranged.

Wednesday's walkers headed out and about on walks which included a train journey along part of the Johnsonville train line. The FFs were captured by John Houghton and Hue Ng. Hue thought that her photo might perhaps show the FFs searching for gold nuggets or playing Pokemon Go.

Thursday's team of 1 - Christine Binns - apologised that she had omitted to take a selfie on her solitary walk.

The Friday team were led by Gary Dick out from Eastbourne and up into the hills above and beyond. John Houghton photographed the early group looking very satisfied with themselves at the top of a hill.
