Churton Park Community Walkers

Newsletter 21 January 2024

Hi everyone – except for the Wednesday Pleasure Pacers, each of our regular groups completed a walk this past week.  On Wednesday a group of 13 walkers, being a mix of steady steppers and fast footers, undertook a walk along the Stebbings Valley track in Churton Park – with eight walkers completing an extended walk.  Then on Thursday we had nine walkers venturing around Newlands.  On Friday 16 walkers set out to complete a 12.5kms walk along the Cheviot road track in Lowry Bay.

As we mentioned last week, the first pre-planned walks for 2024 are on Wednesday 24 January with walks around Kenepuru – details and maps appear later in this Newsletter..

This Week's Walks (Wednesday 24 January)

Welcome to a new walking year to all walkers.  We start the scheduled 2024 walks for Wednesdays with three walks in the Kenepuru area.

PP’s:  A 4.75km loop that uses tracks and footpaths and is generally a flat walk.

You can see the walk https://nz.mapometer.com/walking/route_5492240 here.

SS’s:  A 6.26km loop on tracks and footpaths with a little bit of uphill here and there.

You can see the walk https://nz.mapometer.com/walking/route_5492238 here.

FF’s: A 8.52km loop walk using a mixture of tracks and footpaths.

You can see the walk https://nz.mapometer.com/walking/route_5492239 here.

Parking: Parking for all three groups is on the relatively large parking area just off Gee Street, Linden.

Coffee: Nothing booked but there is Gloria Jeans that a good number of us have gone back to in the past.  Gloria Jeans is within The Outlet Centre on Tawa’s Main Road.  There also is Simmer back at Churton park.
